First Night Raleigh 2014 - Downtown Raleigh Event

First Night Raleigh 2014

Come to Downtown Raleigh New Years Eve!

First Night Raleigh is one of the most revered events in Downtown Raleigh. What better way to celebrate the close of one year and ring in the new year!

First Night was created in 1990 to bring more people to downtown and create a long lasting community event that people will look forward to every year. They certainly succeeded! Each year the event gets bigger with more entertainment and venues. The event is designed around the "Four Pillars of First Night"; Celebration, Community, The New Year, and The Arts. First Night is celebrated in many towns across the country. Each community brings their own spin on the event, making it a truly local and unique experience.

2012 drew a record breaking crowd of over 80,000 people! It will be interesting to see if we can top that this year. We are definitely excited to be right in the middle of the action at 15 E Martin St!  Here is a First Night Raleigh Event Map so you can plan for Parking and the activities that will he happening throughout the day and evening.

This year you can expect even more fun filled excitement and family fun. The Children’s Celebration is scheduled from 2:00 – 6:00 PM, so you can have some family New Year's fun without the late night revelry. From a play area, to arts and crafts, music, games, carousel ride, sleigh rides and ice skating, the little ones will be worn out! Great news for the baby sitter, so the parents can go out for the rest of the evening!

Later in the evening a slew of performers will heat up various stages around town, over 100 performances in over three dozen locations across downtown Raleigh are scheduled. See the full Event Info here.

You do need to Buy a Pass for all the events, so be sure to do that in advance if possible! Children under 5 are free. There are many locations around town where you can buy passes.

With such a huge scale event with so many people, Volunteers are always needed. If you are looking for a fun way to spend the evening and help out the community, you can Volunteer at First Night Raleigh
volunteer@artsplosure.org or call 919.832.8699, ext. 805.

The highlight of the evening is the dropping of the Raleigh Acorn! If you can't make it downtown, just tune into WRAL to watch all the fun live, in your PJ's.

Hope to see you there! Happy Holidays and may you have a wonderful 2014! From Lisa Southern Real Estate.
