The Town of Cary is a community adjacent to Raleigh, NC and just minutes from downtown Raleigh. If you are considering a move to Raleigh and you are looking for more of a family friendly, small town feel, consider taking a look at Cary.

Years back it was considered somewhat of a rural small town, but with urban sprawl and the growth of the RTP (Research Triangle Park) Cary and Raleigh are now fused together into a larger Metro area of Raleigh.

Cary does still retain some of its small town charm with its quaint downtown area and historic homes. You can even still have an ice cream at the soda fountain counter at Ashworth Drugs. There are also several events downtown that give it true southern small town charm.

What was once the original school for Cary has recently been transformed into the Cary Arts Center where residents can partake in a wide variety of educational programming for young and young at heart.

The Town of Cary Park and Recreation Department has an excellent reputation in the area for providing residents well maintained parks, walking trails and plenty of activities. The Town itself is well run and helps to create the atmosphere that is unlike any other town in the area. Cary has made many lists over the years as a great place to live. It is very clean, safe and the schools are top in the area. Cary home prices on average can be higher than similar homes in other areas of the Triangle, but are still comparatively a great value when you look at other major metro areas. For the quality of life, convenience to major amenities and excellent schools, Cary is a great choice.

Cary is also a wonderful place to enjoy year round outdoor activities. The Cary Greenway System maintained by the Town of Cary meanders through open space and through neighborhoods around town offering the biker, jogger or stroller pusher many options for exercise. There are numerous golf courses around town, both private and public. many communities have swimming pools and there are also a wide variety of private swim and tennis clubs to join. Parks, picnic areas and playgrounds are also abundant in every area of town. Cary is a very welcoming and friendly southern town. The perfect place to call home.

Maynard Road is considered the inside loop of Cary and Cary Parkway is the outer loop, although it does not make a complete loop and is the mainly in South to West part of the town. The road system is well maintained and there is little congestion with the exception of peak commute times. There are four Zip Codes that serve the Town of Cary.

In the 27511 Zip Code of Cary you will find many of the older original neighborhoods surrounding downtown and spreading SE towards US1 and along Kildaire Farm Road. Popular neighborhoods in this area include Farmington Woods, Maynard Oaks, Tanglewood, Greenwood Forest, MacGregor Downs, Wimbledon and other smaller neighborhoods and town home communities. This area is very convenient to major retail areas of Cary including Cary Towne Center Mall, Crossroads Plaza, Trader Joes and Whole Foods. The Hospital is also located close by. This area of town also offers easy access to downtown Raleigh via US1 and Hwy 40.

The 27513 Zip Code of Cary is located in the Eastern part of the town as development spread towards the RTP area bordering Morrisville. Popular neighborhoods in the area include Cary Park, Wedgewood, Weston, Preston, Weatherstone and others. Most of the new developments and master planned type communities in Cary are located in this part of town, along with more established older neighborhoods closer to downtown Cary. There are plenty of major retail and restaurant options in this area including a new Super Target development and Movie Theater. Its close proximity to RTP and excellent schools makes it very desirable for families.

The 27518 Zip Code of Cary comprises the Southern part of town along the US1 corridor bordering Holly Springs along south Kildaire Farm Rd. Popular neighborhoods in this area include Lochmere, Highlands, Regency Park, Glenridge, and others. This area of town features larger homes in established neighborhoods. Although it feels like a somewhat rural setting, it's actually very convenient to Raleigh via US1. Nearby shopping includes Whole Foods, Harris Teeter and Waverly Place. The Hospital is also nearby.

The 27519 Zip Code of Cary is located on the South West side of town bordering Apex along HWY 64 and the new 540 Extension. The are also many newer developments in this area along with more established but relatively newer communities. Great schools and a semi-rural feeling combined with easy access to RTP makes this area another favorite for families. Popular neighborhoods include Highcroft, Harmony, Brookstone, Tatton Place, Deveraux, Amberly, Caroline Preserve, and others.

No matter which area of Cary you choose, it's really hard to go wrong. Depending on your desired lifestyle and your need for schools, commute factor and price point you may like some areas better than others.
